Every time I think of dedicating something to you, I am forced to admit that you are truly not here anymore.

I alternate between stages 1 to 5 of the grieving process, and yet.. while my heart is at peace with the thought that you are in a much safer, better, and beautiful place, I struggle still to accept that I will no longer be able to hear your voice, put my arms around you, sing with you, be scolded by you for not taking my vegetables, and many more.

I miss you, Uncle Ray.

One Step Closer

Hello! Is my blog dead yet? Haha :p

I recently went on a mission trip, and I’ve learnt so much from it that it’s difficult for me to succinctly tell them to you.

If you are interested to read, below is my testimony of this recent mission trip :)

I’ve made it like an interview for easy reading, and divided them into several segments. :)

1. Where did you go for your mission trip and how long was it?

We went to Myanmar and it was for 8 days and 7 nights (22.7.2011 – 29.7.2011)!

2. How were you feeling prior to the mission trip?

I was nervous, I felt incredibly unprepared, and I was worried if I could carry out what I had planned. As you could see, there was a lot of “I”s in the previous statement. This goes to show that for a long time, I’ve been so very busy in many other things that I was on the verge of burning out, on being jaded and disillusioned.

3. What were your expectations of the mission trip?

Initially, I am ashamed to confess that the mission trip was more like a retreat for me than for me to serve the people. To retreat from the world I came from, and to just take a break from the busyness back home. The mission trip was a struggle for me initially as I battled with Him, and how through it all, slowly the flesh in me grew weaker as I was forced to rely only on Him (being stripped from all my dependency towards my loved ones as well from all the distractions). I held on also to the fact that I will be entering into the unknown with God, that He is the only one who will journey with me through it all. The term mission is associated with “having a goal in mind”, and that the goal was to “bring people one step to the Kingdom of God” (according to Geisler, 2011; cited by Teo, 2011). Towards the end of the mission trip, I was also one of the many who came one step closer to the Kingdom of God.

4. What were some things that you did there?

I was mainly in charge of the children’s ministry, and my co-partner was Isaac. Our roles were to teach the children, and to encourage their faith. We taught them a dance called the “Chicken Dance”, a game called “Samson, Delilah and Lion”, as well as played games and activities centered around bible stories (i.e. David the Shepherd Boy, David and Goliath, etc.). I also shared my testimony about the transforming power of Jesus in my life, performed in a skit and a dance, as well as shared during cell group. During the Evangelistic events, I also had the privilege of praying for people and proclaiming the promises of God over their lives.

5. How were the people of Myanmar and their culture like?

They are warm, caring, hospitable and extremely humble people. Most of them smiled at us and welcomed us into their homes, and it is their culture to always serve something to the guest. They were also very obliging, and were more than happy to hear from us. The people we visited in the church and also in the outskirts were also very helpful. The children were quick to attend to us by carrying our bags, and they were all very independent. The adults were also very hungry for the Word of God, and they were shocked that we had finished our sharing after an hour, while we were shocked that we were supposed to share for two hours! Overall, they are people who have great potential for growth simply because they are willing, and that God will definitely use them mightily to extend His Kingdom.

People were much poorer, and many of them lack even the bare necessities in life (having different change of clothes, enough food for the day, etc.). People in Myanmar walk a lot, and I am glad not all of them chose to drive. If not, it’d be havoc in the street! The way people drove there were so scary, that my team members and I dared not look. The roads there were also very rough and bumpy, thus making the van ride a rather memorable one. To me, it was like a mini roller coaster.

6. Tell us one incident that spoke very much to you.

On the very first night, the seven of us had to be split up into two groups to visit two different cell groups. My group traveled in a van for about 45 minutes to one hour to visit an uncle who was crippled and therefore in need of encouragement. The pastor told us to speak life to him, as previously he was an evangelist and church planter, but now he is unable to move very much. It was a very painful sight for me as I know how devastating it must be to be unable to do anything. The uncle and his wife stayed in a flat with very little space, and there were about 10 – 12 of us there including the four of us from the mission team.

We started with praise and worship, and truly the presence of God was there. The people were so hungry for God, and it was evident to me that they were singing their hearts our, that they were truly worshipping the Lord. Then we had a short round of icebreaker led by Brian, and then Yien Rong shared her testimony. Later on, it was my turn to share the Word, and I was moved by how much the people desired the Lord. They were attentive, and they were engaging their hearts and minds to connect with what we were bringing to them, and I was extremely humbled by that. I was also in awe of their hunger and passion for the Lord, and I returned home to the hotel that night questioning about the depth of my own desire for God.

We also managed to pray for the uncle, and he even managed to move his hand a little, and also had tears in his eyes. This incident spoke a lot to me because it revealed so much about the way both our hearts responded to God. His heart was soft towards God, and God used that to draw me back to Him again, to desire Him with that same sincerity and fervency once again.

7. Tell us one thing you learnt about God through this mission trip.

That God is greater than all I ever imagined, that He is faithful, that in His time all things will be made beautiful. He knows what He’s doing, and He wants the best for all of us. That He is so powerful, and at the same time so very personal. He spoke to all of us collectively, and also in person, gently reminding us to fight for Him the same way He is fighting for all of us.

8. Last question! What is one thing you’d like to say to the people reading this?

Hmm. That a mission trip is good for one’s soul. :) It is a good reminder of how ugly we all are (the sinners we are), yet in our ugliness we realize all the more we need God so much, and how this need is a need that He placed in you so that He can fill you, beautify you, and restore you to where you were supposed to be-with Him.

It’s difficult to describe to people the whole feeling of wanting to be “pursued”.

To be sought after, to be fought for, to be risked for and to know that no matter what, you are worth it.

I speak for myself as the cries “Am I loved? Am I wanted? Am I accepted for who I am?” have permeated my life for so long- especially when I am not the best of myself.

Yesterday I fought with my beloved, and I learnt several things.

I learnt that emotions should not be involved in conflict resolution, especially if one is PMS-ing. Not a good combo. Words flew, and hearts were broken in the careless process.

I spoke to him about my expectations on how I want to be pursued.

How I wished things were, and how I expected things to be a certain way - with flowers, gifts, unexpected surprises, with lots of planning and yet with a tinge of spontaneity… How much more complex can a girl be huh?

And yet over and over again, my assumptions of love and of being pursued were being challenged.

While I shot him down through my unmet need and unmet expectations, he kept quiet and bit his own lips to avoid from lashing out his own sharp remarks. He was still the whole time, asking me to “Go on”, even though my words cut into his very soul, words like “I wish you had… If only…” Words that I didn’t know how to tell him “I want to be pursued, I want to know that you want me, that you will fight for me”, but instead translated to a message that told him that “You aren’t good enough. You’ll never get it right.”

How in the whole process, he pursued me by not leaving my side or lashing out at me at the atrocity of my words even when I was killing him with every word I said.

How looking back, although while pouring out my emotions to him it felt like I was justified, deep down my heart ached in regret, that maybe I just haven’t given him a chance to love me. That maybe I’ve had my own assumptions of love and of being wanted, that I failed to see all his own ways of supporting me and of loving me all these while.

And how when he sat there yesterday in the car before he went home after dropping me off,

And how when he sms-ed me later to find out how I was,

And how he called me even though he didn’t do anything wrong,

He showed me a lot about what love actually is.

“That love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

He reminded me of Jesus once more.

How especially at this time where tomorrow is Good Friday - the day when Jesus was crucified, where He was condemned for something He did not do, where He was rejected and ridiculed for being who He is, and for many more suffering that He didn’t deserve.

Where He was oppressed and treated harshly,
yet He never said a word.
He was led like a lamb to the slaughter.
And as a sheep is silent before the shearers,
He did not open his mouth.
Unjustly condemned,
He was led away.
No one cared that he died without descendants,
that His life was cut short in midstream.
But He was struck down
for the rebellion of His people.

Like my beloved and I, it was so natural to wish to be pursued a certain way (i.e. with languish gifts and romance, etc.), but truly, the factors that have shaped such notions of what love meant were not right, factors that were changing and not constant-factors such as the media.

And so in the same case, there are many factors that cause us to view God differently than how He is, and whether it has distorted our own notion of who He is.

Because really if you ask me, for someone to give His life for me in order that I can now:

Trade my ashes in for beauty,

And wear forgiveness as a crown,

Having to kiss the feet of mercy,

And being able to lay every burden down,

I can only do all these at the foot of the cross,

The place where God sent Jesus to pay the price for all our wrongdoing.

“All of us, like sheep, have strayed away.
We have left God’s paths to follow our own.
Yet the Lord laid on him
the sins of us all.”

Changes

I used to look forward to marriage because I thought it was what would "complete a girl's dreams".
You know, finding Prince Charming, having someone to pamper me, to make me feel less lonely, etc.
Those were my views a looooong time ago.

Now, I look forward to marriage because:

1. It's with my best friend (by the grace of God), not just with someone who is a pretty face. He's someone I can be real with as well as is real with me, someone whom I can talk to and debate with, someone who rebukes me lovingly for every stupid move I make or when I'm going down a wrong path, someone who stands by me in life, someone whom can make me smile with a single look even when others try to cheer me up with a 1000 words (wah how cheesy hehe), etc.
2. I know that no one (not even him) can fill the void in my heart except God, and so I will not enter into marriage wanting to have this void filled.
3. I look forward to collaborating efforts with God in bringing out the best in my future spouse.
4. I understand better now that marriage will bring out the worst in me (so that the best in me can be produced), and that marriage serves a greater purpose than just a piece of paper as well as living for oneself.
5. It's scary but exciting to grow in life with someone I adore, respect, trust, and cherish and am committed to love.

Random fact: I'm getting more domesticated! I've cooked and tried 3 new dishes in 2 weeks! A new achievement! :)

Valentine’s Day

On the 14^th of February 2011, while everyone was busy preparing for love, I felt I was preparing for war.

I was raging at God. I cried, sobbed, told God “I don’t wanna care anymore,” “It hurts too much to care.”

With my grandma’s demise, as well as getting my car banged by another car (therefore having to go to the police station countless times to get a report in order to claim insurance by the third party, as well as getting summoned, paying a lot of money for taxi, etc.), and with the plans I had in mind to celebrate Valentine’s day with my beloved but the document couldn’t print, etc., I was so angry.

I was angry that nothing was turning out, angry and upset that things were going out of control, that I had no control.

But in reality, beneath all the anger was a feeling I didn’t want to admit. That I was feeling utterly lost and hurt and upset, wondering whether anything I did could ever amount to something.

Needless to say, I felt like a victim of my circumstances. Looking back now, I wondered if it was because I was still grieving over losing my grandma that everything was spilling over.

Looking back now, I learnt:

Of what it meant to worship God for who He is, regardless of how my circumstances are.

That if I can only accept good from God and not bad, this is not a relationship at all.

Of my family's kindness and love for me.

Of my beloved's patient and loving heart even more, and grew in friendship with him.

That Valentine’s Day is about celebrating the person, and not the event. I’ve learnt this earlier, and I’m relearning it now. So even though on Valentine’s Day itself the dishes were late (there was an ingredient missing as well), my gift was not ready, and I had such bad time management with the co-ordinating of cooking and preparing, I had a great time- rediscovering God and my beloved all over again.

Today, I was debating about waking up early or not, when the sms came in.
"Popo passed away this morning."
How much of a mundane day changes with one sentence.
Grieving is an art, everyone cries but no one allows themselves to be immersed in the reality of it all.
It hurts too much,
like a part of us is now missing, the glue that has been holding all of us together.

A few nights ago, I told my current boyfriend how I much I was hurt by something an ex-boyfriend did to me. I'd expected him to be angry and jealous at him, because that was how I reacted to the girls whom he was very close to once upon a time.

Instead, my boyfriend shed tears for me. "This is very difficult to say, but I'd rather if we didn't get to meet (as a consequence of things not working out between my ex and I), than to see you getting hurt by him.

I'd rather have your heart whole than to have it broken by him."

That day, my boyfriend showed me what love really was--when you love someone more than you love yourself.

And that day, I finally found the courage to throw out everything related to my past with my ex.

Being good, although not nice

"Don't be a nice guy, be a good guy."

These were the words that someone said that resonated in me.

Growing up in an Asian society has embedded in me the importance of being nice, of being hospitable, of not wanting to offend people.

“Don’t say that, it’s not nice!” My mom would tell me off when I told people how I really felt or think (and of course the answer I gave them wouldn’t be nice i.e. It’s boring, I think there are better ways to do this, etc.).

I understand that maintaining peace is very important, (heck if someone likes strife then I’d ask them to see a psychologist).

But while keeping peace is important, to what extent does one do that? Does it mean one cannot speak up for their rights, express how they really feel, discuss openly about their thoughts and opinions?

Jesus was a good guy, but he wasn’t always nice.

He spoke the truth to many (even when they refused to take it), He overturned tables at the temple, He called the Pharisees “brood of vipers!”, etc. Jesus wasn't afraid to mince His words. And while He has the authority to do that, it makes me wonder about the same thing.

He was doing the right thing, even if it wasn't nice.

He was telling the people the truth, even if it wasn't what they want to hear.

He was thinking for the good of people, that they needed to know, so that they will not be ignorant.

Many people can tell each other what they want to hear, but my mom's words have never sounded truer in times like this. "You'll know if someone really cares for you if they tell you the truth, even though it's not nice."

Even then He has not left us alone, He has given us wisdom in telling the truth. In timing, in the proper context, to always have truth and grace (hand in hand).

It's hard to balance truth and grace, coz you either swing to being legalistic or licentious.

But with Jesus as the balance, one is liberated.

He is the balance.

WWJD is not easy. But to give up without trying would be a greater tragedy after all He has done.

The Battle Rages on

Heart lessons

I've come to realize to a greater degree, that heart work is hard work.

It's not easy letting my guard down when I feel attacked,
opening up my heart when I am hurt,
choosing to trust still when I've been betrayed,
losing my pride in order to save a relationship,
choosing to hope even though things seemed bleak,
urging my heart to not stop beating,
to not harden itself..

It's not easy to be humanly real, to be really human.

To love, to forgive, to hope, to trust, and to keep pursuing relationships with people even though they don't respond, they don't care.

I attended a church event just yesterday, and I remember the preacher saying, "Love people, because God loves you, and God loves His people."

And I responded "Yes, help me, Daddy, for I am weak, but You are able."

Immediately after the event ended, that prayer and desire to love was put to test.

My beloved and I had a misunderstanding, and I realized there and then again, that a person who truly desires to change will not just be emotional and cry about it at the altar, but it's after all those feelings have faded, after the high has subsided, that the commitment to love is challenged.

It was a hard time surrendering my perceptions, needs, and wants to God, and to just love.

Love is hard, especially when the people closest to you have the greatest potential to hurt you. Especially when my heart is most vulnerable to them. My family, beloved, friends, etc.. It's so much easier to run away than to risk. But what in life that's worth keeping has no risk?

Without sidetracking anymore... I know that when I choose love, life always follows.

My beloved and I talked things out and sorted out the misunderstanding.
(It wasn't easy, but to be at odds with him is even more painful :(, so yeah, communication is the key :))
We apologized, and affirmed each other still of our commitment to talk things out.

Funny thing is? Just over lunch we were discussing about conflicts and ways to deal with it.

Hehe. I think God was preparing us, that He is there with us through it all. :)

We're weak, selfish creatures. But God is good. His love will always always see us through :)

1 John 4:7 - Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

I went for an audition yesterday to be part of my church's musical and..

I didn't get the part.

I do feel sad, honestly.

But then again, I was surprised because I thought I'd be sadder. :p

I woke up telling God, "If I get it, I'll praise You. If I don't, I'll praise You still."

Thank you for the privilege, Daddy :)

I also remember telling Jeremy yesterday that "Even if I don't get it or I do get it, I won't look back and remember the audition. I will, however, look back and remember how you were there for me the whole time, holding my hand when I was scared, encouraging me, praying for me, going out to practice with me, holding me when I felt like running away, and being firm in asking me to choose my songs when I was so fickle-minded. I will look back and remember how blessed I am to have you there, to have you by my side, to just have you in my life."

And it's true.

I am grateful, that HE, and he (hehe, oops sorry I see a lot of 'he's going on, pun not intentional) was there with me.

My heart is grateful for you, my beloved. :)

God of Wonders

I was holding my cousin's nephew yesterday while he was sleeping,
and while I was observing his tiny body,
I couldn't help but take note of his soft silky blond hair,
of this little chest heaving up and down in beautiful rhythm to his breathing,
as well as seeing him curl up against my chest while holding on to me with his delicate, small fingers,
with his eyes blinking once in a while as he tosses and turn
before cuddling in closer to a comfortable, favorite position.

Perhaps I enjoyed it because it makes me remember again
just how accepting children are,
how they welcome you for who you are
without any judgments or preconceived notions of who you should be.
They accept you without conditions, forgive easily, and they're so innocent
it makes me just wanna protect them.

Perhaps I enjoyed him because I like children,
I long to be a mother,
I can't wait to bear my beloved's child
and have them running into his arms as well as mine.

But above all, I am confident I enjoyed having him in my arms
because he showed me who God is.

I am certain, very much certain,
that for God to create such a beautiful thing such as this,
He is a good God.

I am awed, and my heart is longing.

Family, friendship, courtship, marriage.

Such essential relationships in life, yet such different interpretations of it offered by various sources.

With every definition I take, it changes my outlook of it. With every different outlook, it changes the direction of my relationships.

Love, hope, trust, faith, commitment – these are all such necessary ingredients in making it work out.

It all sounds so easy in movies and novels.. so much so that what is realistic is not often portrayed.

Again, I am questioning..

What did I believe about friendship/love/people/courtship/marriage in the past that is now shaping who I am becoming and how my relationships are turning out?

Are these beliefs true?

How can I be the best of who I am NOW in spite of the mistakes I’ve made in the PAST in order to reap redeeming relationships in the FUTURE?

Thank God for questions! The type of questions I ask can help change the things I am looking for. It's time now again, to take off my rose-colored shades and grow up. :)

Little Wonders

This week has been a good, blessed week.

I've looked back and learnt the value of friends yet again. Different people who have encouraged me over the years, through different words and deeds.

I am thankful for you, dear girl, for holding me when I cry. You may think it's a weakness that you cry easily, but I'm thankful for your tears--they remind me that "it's okay", and that I can cry in your presence too.

I am thankful for you, dear girl, for telling me how you felt even though it wasn't easy. I know that speaking the truth is always scary but you did it anyway. And you did it in love. Even though it hurt both of us, I still praise God for you. What won't kill us will make us stronger. I love you!

I am thankful for you, dear girl, who prayed such a long and fast prayer for me concerning things that matter to me. I am also so glad that you and I can share our heart and draw closer to God together.

I am thankful for you, dear girl, you who guided me and encouraged me in my workplace. It's a joy to have you as a colleague!

I am thankful for you, dear girl, you who never failed to smile and persevere even though you are so busy and tired. You are showing me that one need not be controlled by one's circumstances, that one need not react, but respond.

I am thankful, dear God, for my beloved. We've managed to fry edible rice and laughed ourselves silly over Kung-Fu Panda! Thank you for such an amazing person. There's too much to record about him in a short blog post.

I am thankful, dear God, for so many people. They are my little wonders.

As I stroll down this new path of unfamiliar surroundings, of new knowledge, of falling in step with the rhythm of work,

I am reminded: do or die, I'm not alone.

I realize that it's easy to envy people who aren't working,
people who have more time,
people who have lesser responsibilities and obligations,
etc.

I realize that the folly of comparison is that I'll never learn to be contented in wherever I am, whatever I do, whomever I become.

I realize, of all things, that I am normal :p

That it's okay to struggle, okay to not be right or perfect, okay to cry about it and okay to be real.

I realize, again and again, that it's okay to be broken especially in His presence.

Perhaps, just perhaps, I need a lesson again to know how to run to Him.

A new pair of shoes

A close friend reminded me that my journey with my beloved is like wearing a pair of shoes.

Now the shoe's still new, and hence it gets very uncomfortable and awkward at times in this whole process of breaking the shoe in.

Sometimes I can't even walk with the shoe because it's so painful.

But the one thing that keeps me going is knowing that everything takes time. And the pain is necessary for the joy to be even more appreciated, for the whole shoe to be really comfortable one day.

I had one uncomfortable moment recently, in the breaking of the shoe.

Tears were shed, hurtful words were exchanged, and hearts were being broken.

Yet in the ugliness and discomfort of it all, I remember how he surrendered his feelings while I wrestled with my pride and selfishness and all that makes me wanna give up... until it hit me again and again, that my beloved is hurting.. That I am hurting him.

After much sorries and embraces and assurances, we both walked away closer, more humbled.

There's so much adjusting, adapting, so much that both he and I need to come to communicate about.

But I'm so excited.

I know that love is always worth it, that HE is worth it.

That one day, by my Daddy's love and grace, this pair of shoes will fit me just as nicely as when I believe it to be when it was first given to me :)

Part 2: A continuation of the journey of a growing, working young lady of Christ.

a) It is so important to keep a logbook to track my spending.

Different people keep track of their spending differently, but below is how I do it. I’d like to share it with you so you can benefit from it.

DISCLAIMER: This is how it works for me, it might/might not work for you.

At the end of the month, I’m able to see:

i) Which “dept” took up the most cash.

ii) Was it necessary or unnecessary?

iii) How can I work on reducing the inflow of cash to that dept?

Scenario: If I spend the most money on food, maybe the questions I’d like to explore is:

i) Where have I been eating?

ii) Can I get my favorite food at cheaper places?

iii) Would cooking, packing food from home help?

iv) Are the things I’ve been eating even healthy? :/

Again, this is hard work. But it’s a gentle encouragement to all that everything worth having is worth fighting for. :)

The money will come in handy to realize your goals for the near future, which will be further elaborated on the point below.

b) The money you save now can help you when you need it:

i) Buying your first car

ii) Buying your first home

iii) Wedding

iv) Rainy days (i.e. Emergency, unexpected expenditure)

v) Going for a holiday before you start work (RECOMMENDED! :P)

vi) Blessing others

vii) Buying furniture/things you need for your new place if you move out of the hostel (happened to me!!)

Do you have a goal that you’re working towards? If you do, drawing out a rough outline of how much money you need to accomplish the goal would be a very big inspiration/motivation for you to save money.

Scenario: If you're planning to get married to your current beau in 2 years time, maybe you can set a target of saving RM 10,000 a year? Difficult, but not impossible.

And RM 10, 000 a year is nothing compared to the lifelong joy of being with someone you love :)

c) Other benefits of saving:

A very interesting and awesome thing the speaker shared was this:

“Save at least six months of your salary so that if economy’s bad and you lose your job, you have six months’ salary to sustain you while you search for another job in this time frame. “

How wise :D!

I guess, at the end of the day, the lesson is this: To be contented with whatever God has given to you, and to be faithful in the small things. God is fair and just, if you can be trusted with the small, you can definitely be trusted with bigger things.

MOST OF ALL REMEMBER: Start now!! Don’t wait till you’re working like me to start. Trust me, you WON’T regret it.

d) Trust God and enjoy this journey!

Don’t be too calculative that you don’t know how to enjoy life dy. Some times it’s okay to reward yourself!

Think of other things you can do that doesn’t need money! It will also boost your creativity juices :)

e) All the best!! You can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you. :)

Money Matters: Part 1

OK, I don’t know who else still reads this blog. But I’m fine with it, this will be a place where thoughts would be ~~penned~~ typed out.

I realize (maybe it’s just me) that there are not many resources out here to help prepare a university student to transition into the working world.

Recently, my church had a campus activity (haha, I am slightly over-aged) :p which was titled “Money Matters”. I thought, “Hey, this is such good news. I can’t help but want to share it with as many people as I can”.

Several things the speaker shared stayed in my heart.

NOTE: As this post was originally very long, I've divided it into 2 parts :)

PART 1:

I learnt that:

a) There are two types of money-users.

· Type 1: Spend first, save later.

· Type 2: Save first, spend later.

Scenario: Imagine if you get RM 15 per day, which, in 30 days it means you have RM 450.

Type 1: Spends RM 14 on food, comes home and saves the spare changes (RM 1) in a piggy bank.

Type 2: Saves RM 5 in piggy bank first, then spends RM 10 on food.

Hypothetically speaking, if both people continue this practice for the next month, who do you guess saves more at the end of the day/month? You do the Math.

So, say in a month you’re able to save RM 150 (some months you might not):

RM 150 x 12 = RM 1800!

And if you leave it in your bank and put it under a Fixed Deposit (meaning you can’t withdraw the money), and continue this discipline for at least 3 years, you’d get around RM 5400! (And that’s not even including the interest!)

Imagine how much you’d get if you have this amount of money growing in the bank AS WELL as the amount of money that you’re still in the process of saving :) That’s like, double savings!

Best thing is, it’s all your hard work :)!

As you persevere in this area, it’s also a chance for your character to grow alongside your bank account. After all, discipline IS hard work :)

b) The way you spend your money tells a lot about who you are.

I’m someone who’s very impulsive with my spending, and I’ve learnt that my impulsivity has not been rewarding in many ways.

Scenario: I’d see a dress which is on 50% discount, and although I don’t think I’d be wearing the dress or needing it anytime soon, my first impulse is to “GET THE DRESS! It’s SO CHEAP!” My rationale being: If I buy it when it’s cheaper now, then I would have saved more in the long run.

But in reality, NO I don’t actually save more. Upon analyzing, I realize my motivation to spend at that moment is wrong. The first thing that motivated me to buy the dress was the price and not that I like it, so even if I buy it, I might not actually use it coz I actually might not want it very much.

Secondly, Malaysia is land of sales. When I really do need something and want to get it cheap, I’ll google to find out when the next sales season is. There’ll be other times. :)

Scenario 2: A friend of mine is very careful with money. She’s always sure to pay off her bills and then save a part of her money first. At the end of the day, with whatever that’s left, she plans her usage wisely—however, her usage of money includes blessing other people with it in spite of how little she has left. I.e. Sponsoring a World Vision child. Needless to say, this has shown me the type of person she is and how she views money. She’s careful, frugal, and she manages to make a difference with this resource that she has.

c) The way you spend your money tells a lot about your priorities in life.

When you first get your paycheck, what do you normally do with it?

Do you immediately think of:

1) Buying something for yourself?

2) Saving it?

3) Giving it to your loved ones?

4) Etc.?

Remember that once your priorities are not in place, everything else will not fall into place.

Just as time is a limited resource extended only by giving the first part back to God, it is the same for money as well.

“Honour the Lord.. with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty…” (Proverbs 3: 9-10).

A friend encouraged me to give my first paycheck to the LORD, and the second one to my parents.

Mind you, it’s not half of the sum of money, but ALL of it.

My first response was o_o (HOW CAN? What am I gonna survive on? Enough ah??)

Thank God however, my friend told me this a few months before I started working full time. So even then, I worked part time to save up enough to last me for the 2 months which I have decided to give the paycheck to 3 important people in my life.

It’s a lesson of faith and trust as well, questions such as “Do I have enough faith in God to trust Him that He IS indeed enough for me, that He WILL provide for me?

For all my life I KNOW that my God is my Provider. He gave me the job, so He’ll definitely sustain me through it all. So yes, taking this step increased not just my faith, but also the trust that if God gave His one and only Son to me, what is everything else? And my parents! Gosh they’ve been so supportive. One paycheck is definitely nothing compared to what they’ve done.

Looking back, I don’t regret it at all. It was a joy to be able to work so hard and then give it away to someone I consider so worth it. :)

Working Life

It's been a few months since I started working, and now I'm even in my second job.

There's so many things I've learnt since I started working, but one of the most important lessons which I have always been struggling with was about the management of TIME.

Working life has taught me that time is so precious because a huge chunk of it will be devoted to it. And sometimes it gets depressing thinking about the amount of time invested in something, yet the amount paid (salary) is so little.

To me, money can always be earned back. But time can't. Hence I go crazy trying to still fit my schedule to my time and killing myself in the process.

When I was studying or even back in high school, my friends and family have always called me a very busy person. I was always on the go, always trying to do as many things I can, trying to make the best out of life as I can..

But then starting work has changed all that.

I CAN'T do everything, I can't give everyone the same amount of time that I used to be able to, I can't just continue running around.

And again and again, I see His mercy to me.

I see that resting is equally as important as working.

Resting is necessary.

And when I rest in Him, my perspective on things changes. From an earthly perspective, He gives me a heavenly one... and when my perspective changes, my priorities change..

And when He becomes top, everything else falls into place.

Ahh.

Life.

Either love it or leave it.

There's so much to learn, to grow in life. Thank God that He's a god of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and many more chances.

Sometimes it's easier to run away.

Funny, how I run away from good things.

Hope is a foreign word, a strange emotion.

But it has been so long, too long, since I've allowed myself to feel this way-- to let go and enjoy, to know that not everything in life has to be fought for, because Someone has already fought it for me.

And looking bad, it's not a bad thing ~~after~~ at all.

It's been some time now, so how are all of you?

This is my first official post as a working woman. :) Been working for a month now, and it's different.

Not good, or bad, just different.

I've lost my voice several times, fallen sick, and many more. The working hours are hectic, and boy, I really have new found respect now for people who work long hours at work and yet still manage to balance work and play and work out their priorities.

Yet the experience gained is priceless. I'm learning how to discipline children, I'm learning how to trust God more and more in areas which I'm incompetent in, and I'm learning how to wake up each day and ask, "What do you want me to learn today, Daddy? How can I love your children this day?"

Working with kids is not easy. Sure, there's all this talk about "moulding the future generation", and it's true. But it doesn't really eliminate the fear from within you, the "what ifs", the possibilities of you screwing up and therefore bringing up children who are screwed up. :/

But when I make God my teacher, things change.

Urgh. Becoming an adult is not easy, and I don't expect it to be.

It's exciting, this new path. But truly, thank God! I'm not alone :)

He knows me

It's been a while :)

Been meaning to blog, just haven't really figured out how to pen down my thoughts.

It was some time ago when I moaned about where to work and all, and about what to do.

It wasn't easy figuring what to do, as I didn't even know what I wanted!

Then after a while, I realized what I wanted, but then people around me just kept telling me that I'm being too.. "idealistic", that my first job as a fresh graduate isn't gonna be fun, that I'm "expecting too much", that I can't have everything.

But then.. what if I can?

What if I CAN have everything that I wanted?

What if I dared to ask God?

I dared to have faith, I dared to believe that God allows me to present my requests and desires to Him, and that whether or not He gives it to me, the point is that it's ok to ask.

So ask I did.

I asked for a job that:

a) Has high pay (more than RM 2k)
b) Flexible time
c) Work with people
d) Something I'd enjoy doing
e) Close proximity (within Selangor)

And guess what?

God fulfilled ALL that I asked for!

YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

He gave me a job which is close to home, pays MORE than RM 2.3k (God is SO COOL!), where I work with people instead of facing the computer the whole day, flexible time (meaning the hours might be a lot, but it's negotiable to be swapped if I can't make it that day), and has something to do with my favorite subject back in high school!

Back when I was in F4 till F6, I took Literature in English as a subject for SPM and STPM. I took this subject only because I enjoyed it, and even thought to myself that "Surely I can't find a job with this subject".

Yet God in His grace and mercy gave me a job that involved something I like! Something I really really enjoy! And it's SO COOL, because I never thought that God could use something like this to teach me that He knows me.

He knows me, and He knows my likes and dislikes, my desires and my dreams.

And He is true to His word, that He has plans to prosper me, and NOT to harm me. That He won't give me what I don't like, but He knows what I like.

He is my Father, after all. My Creator. *smiles*

That being said, I'm not claiming that God WON'T hold back something good (good from my perspective) from me or allow bad things to happen to me if it means His will needs to be accomplished. His ways are not my ways, and He sees life with 2 sides of the lense, while I only see one.. So yeah.

What I AM saying is that God knows me, and that He gives me (and you!) the freedom of choice to either bring my dreams before Him.. and THEN surrender it to Him.

That this is a relationship. And that He loves me and knows me and desires that I do the same to Him as well.

This is so exciting!

As I question again how I view God, and seek to break down all assumptions I have about God and truly ask Him to give me a fresh and TRUE picture of who He really is, God is faithful.

He wants to be known, as we are known to Him.

He loves you, as He loves me. Believe it, and my prayer is that you will know Him for yourself.

It's one thing to know in my head that God loves me. It's another thing to know it in my heart.

It shocked me to know that me (who cries while watching anime) has a heart of stone (Ezekiel 36:26). I never knew that all these while, I had not really opened up to God. I had not really believe that He loves me.

And yet, in my rebellion (unbelief is a choice, no? Hence it's an act of rebellion).. He never stopped being there.

He never left. He never even attempt to leave.

I am unwilling. I cannot and will not go through living this one life knowing the Word of God, yet not knowing the God of the Word.

Thank God!

His mercies are new every day..

In pursuit of God

I had a conversation with God the other day.

I said,

“Daddy dearest,

Why—

How—"

Yet before I could finish my questions, before I could find the right words to communicate what’s in my head and heart to the open, He spoke. He speaks. He knew. He knows.

“Dearest child,

Nevermind. Trust me.

I know.

I know.

I know.”

No matter how many times I try to interpret the two words as differently as I could, put in the intonation, the sound, the emphasis, do whatever I want with these words.. it doesn’t change the fact that God knows best, and that He’s in control.

To sum it all up, I am reminded again and again, that it doesn't matter whether I know the answers or not. The point is do I trust Him enough?

Love, faith, hope, trust--that's all that matters.

A day at a time, that's all I can do.

During devotion time, a friend said,

"How you know your God is different from how I know my God."

It made me think.. That God is a person, and that like how different people have different perceptions of each other, so too different people have different perceptions of God. It's dangerous to make Christianity a religion, because it's not. And once everything I practice now becomes just a doing, not my being, I lose sight of everything.

It makes me question, "How do I perceive God?"

"Do I know Him? Or do I just know things about Him that I hear from people, from books?"

"Have I made time for Him, draw near to Him, speak to Him, and listen to Him speak back to me?"

Most of all, it challenges me not to stay content with where I am with Him. Not to say "I know the Bible enough", but "God, I wanna know You more now. I wanna see You now. I wanna hear You now. I want so much more of You now."

This is a real quick one!

1) God is God of PERFECT timing. Everything happens at JUST the right moment with JUST the right people in the picture, and I praise Him for that :)

2) My grandma is SO funny. She pulled me to her side and said this to me, "Where's your husband?" HAHA. To which I reply, "I'm also finding him, popo!!" :D

3) I am terribly busy this time around, and I am beginning to question why. I realize that for everything I invest in, something else has to go. Question is, who? what? Commitments + priorities + responsibilities have never seemed so overwhelming as it is now.

4) I am so thankful for people who keep me sane, for my friends and family members who know how busy I am and yet still don't give up on making our relationship work out. They teach me to always remember what is of lasting value, and I thank God for such people.

5) I don't know where I am going after this, and I don't know what I want to do. But I want to focus on who I am following, on who I choose to hold on to, and I know that as long as I'm where He is as well, I'm on the right track.

6) I am C.R.A.V.I.N.G. my choc banana cake, my bibimbap, my chocolate bun, my red bean pau. SIGHS :( 18 more days people!!! 18 more days!!! *counting down*

No, this is not about Anna's ~~obsession~~ passion about cats, nor about Pris' desire to have a soft toy that will actually respond to her (actually I think she will be super freaked out if that happens!), or about Jamie's craziness for sheep, or haha anything else.

This will be a quick post about 2 people I find so amusing.

Did you know?

My cousin and her boyfriend have this weird hobby of:

Scaring me (to death, seriously).

Whatever, and I repeat, WHATEVER chances they get, they try to scare the heck out of me.

They've even CRAWLED around my bed before to get to the other side of the room where I was -.- but you know how you always get the feeling that someone's eyeing you? Hah! I ALWAYS catch them a split milisecond before the "BOO!"

And then they both laugh about it and then try again the next time (making me super paranoid), but then my cousin's bf isn't exactly the most subtle person around. Haha he better not be a detective! He's quite easy to figure out. Hahaha

But STILL!! Amidst it all, I can get heart attack la really.

So I got smarter *englightenment*

I close the doorS. (the connecting door)

Then they need to open it in order to come in to the room. So obviously there's a loud creaking noise and they go, "Dang! Why did you have to close the door?"

And I would look up at them and grin my cheshire cat grin.

But CRAP la I'm conditioned dy. A group of them are camping at my uncle's place here for their school trip tomoro and they're still awake, and I'm scared stiff of my cousin and her bf crawling into my room to frighten me. My cousin's bf tried to scare me again earlier when I went to the storeroom to get stg -.- See?? How to be unguarded!? Shucks I'm glancing behind every moment now.

Ok I shall go sleep and lock the doors.

Have I ever told you how much I like being a girl? I really think girls have a lot of fun together, and today's been an especially especially fun day with fun friends :D

Being the insanely wonderful/wonderfully insane friends that they are, they participated with me in my crazy whims.

Hehe, we decided to dress up and have lunch in this restaurant called Full House in Ara Damansara. Due to laziness and lack of time to blog (or rather I am not willing to invest so much time uploading the photos, you can check em out in the girls' Facebook), I'll just upload several pics out of the gazillion ones we took that can very generally sum up the tremendous fun we had today :)

We only live once, and the best ways to create memories is to be spontaneous and crazy sometimes :p at least can look back when we're old and laugh at the wonderful things we did when we were younger. Hahaha

Too bad Betsy couldn't make it :(

Nevertheless.. for the final picture that I will post up here from today's outing.....

A friend once told me before that "Friendship is like a ring. It goes round and round and can never be broken".

This picture above signifies to me one of the many circles of friendship that means a lot to me. Such a bond as this that has encouraged me greatly to become a better person, that though they have seen the bad side of me, yet they didn't stop showing grace + love to me.

Thank You God, for everything--for sisters I never had, but in You, now I do :)

ANNEEEWAYYY. I'm here to talk about 2 genius creations! Which, albeit intelligent, is promoting slothfulness -.-

First and foremost, meet one of the great products from KRAFT!

Ravioli Bolognese in tomato and beef sauce

Had this for dinner today, hehe been looking forward for a chance to blog about it, quite cool, no?? =D

Ok ok, so maybe I do need to find some other form of entertainment other than blogging about canned food! This is sad!

Haha, anyway---

The second genius creation is this:

I know right?? I'm wondering which lazy bum invented this! And HAHA I'm the lazy bum who is using it. But hey, I tried finding the normal manual can opener but it has been thrown away!

All I need to do is press a button, and it helps me to open canned food automatically.

Tada! Done! =D

And after re-heating the ravioli, this is what you'll get:

There's also beef fillings in the ravioli =D

Hehehe so guys, if you wanna buff up, you should probably beef up and eat this! =D

One thing about being a Christian is that you can't remain plateau in your journey with Christ.

You either grow, or you deteriorate. No such thing as staying on the fence.

Maybe that's why sometimes it's so hard trying to grow, trying not to remain where you are. Before becoming a Christian, it was easy for me to stay in my comfort zone where I have all these... distorted thinking.

Thoughts that were self-condemning, thoughts that were self-defeating, thoughts that I thought were normal all these while.

But then God comes in and tells me otherwise.

Things I've grown up knowing are mostly all... lies (?).

Things that, though might be spoken out of good will, yet because they did not come from a wisdom higher than the world's, need to always be questioned, always be examined.

So many times I thought what I've grown up and learnt was right. Things such as, "receiving is selfish", "people are never trustworthy", "God only helps those who helps themselves", and many more.

Change isn't always nice. Sometimes I feel God is leading me deeper into the depths of my heart that I have never dared open up to.

And yet I know, I know very well, that He won't harm me.

That even if He has to open the doors to the forbidden rooms in my heart, He wants to clean every nook and corner of the house and rebuild broken walls, and possibly even plant new plants + flowers. He knows how much I like flowers :)

Ah, change.

Thou art unpredictable, sometimes thou maketh me smile, sometimes thou maketh me winch and cringe.

Yet change!

Art not thou under the control of my Father? :)

So then I shall not fret, just trust and play my part.

What better thing to blog about than His faithfulness?

Very very VERY true.

As a personal testimony to that absolute fact, these days I haven't been a very good steward of my time + money.. and yet God is so very merciful. He NEVER stops providing (someone gave me money today :D)... never stops showing me that even if I don't play my part, He will play His part (gave me good results even though I felt I didn't prepare enough for my assignment) :) ..

I know that if I still refuse to co-operate with Him or even try to see things from His perspective, in the end the person who'll lose out is me.. coz I have not lived up to be the very person He has created me to be.. I have not been real, and by doing that I have not acted fairly towards Him.

I have also not lived life to its fullest.

He, who gave His all--and yet, so often, He gets back from me less than half of what He gives.. and still gives, and will never stop giving.

OK... so yesh, I better start practicing being a good steward of my time. Will blog more next time. :) Nite people!

I'm having my finals this week.

So... Today Anna + I went to Priscilla's house to study.

This was our study schedule:

10.30 - arrive at her house
10.35 - cook and eat breakfast
11.20 - study (with drinks + biskut isteri + rocky biscuits + fruits as our companion)
12.30 - hunger pangs revisited.
1.00 - play piano to relax. Pris and Anna laughs at my song progressions. From "Jesus shall take the highest honour" to "Titanic".
1.30 - Cook lunch
1.45 - Eat lunch
2.15 - Start studying again

Mr. Food was a consistent guest in our study group!!!

SIGHS.

I think I think I think... deep down I don wanna studyyyyyy... so I run to food <--Anna's wonderfully brilliant hypothesis.

I vote that it be supported!!

And now, back to my books!

I like my lift

Yes yes, you read the title correctly. I like my lift (my apartment lift), I know how to spell life ok. :p

Staying in an apartment located at a pretty fancy place in KL has its perks. There are so many expatriates living in the same building as I am, it can get pretty exciting.

I know, for those of you who are overseas and are reading this post, it is pretty pathetic.

But haha, when you live in Malaysia..... well. Let's just say I am easily amused.

Every time I go into the lift, I anticipate meeting new people. New, foreign people. :p I like listening to their different languages (I've heard French, German, Danish, Korean, Japanese, etc.), I absolutely adore looking at their children (esp those with strawberry blond pigtails and round blue eyes!) (although I have to try very hard not to stare), and some of the foreigners are really nice.

After a long or tiring day at work, it's really nice to just chat with them. Just relax and make light conversation, which helps because somehow, seeing a smile on people's face somehow or rather makes me smile too. If not outside, it's on the inside. Sometimes it's just nice to observe them :)

Like today, a kind gentleman from Norway struck up a conversation with me (he saw my file + asked if I was a student), I think he even looked a bit surprise when I told him I was a university student. I'll take that as a compliment. *ahem* Anyhow, there have been other instances of chatting with kind strangers, and it's really quite refreshing. Most of the time it's on "Do you enjoy your stay here in Malaysia?" And while most of them offer very nice remarks about Msia, some who are braver and more honest would make critical remarks. It's very interesting to actually debate with them, at the same time it also reveals a lot of who you are.

Or, some days I get to observe the different parenting styles between Asian and Western parents when the family's in the lift, and it's really different. The Asian kids are so much quieter and submissive (how collectivistic of us), while the Western kids are so honest and frank and sometimes appear rude!

As for now, I know several people who lives in the same apartment who are from India, Japan, Germany, Norway, etc... and I feel like we're in a mini Malaysia (diversity, remember?) :)

I look forward to the lift rides, although sometimes I feel quite silly. I often sing when I'm in the lift alone, sometimes turning bright red when the lift suddenly opens and someone walks in and catches me unaware and in a terribly unladylike situation. It's embarrassing! Not to mention when I constantly check out my reflection in the mirrorS and forget that there's a CAMERA behind my head!

Argh.

Overall.

I like my lift.

OH OH and I HAVE to mention this. Hehe... almost all the guys in my apartment that I've encountered are all really chivalrous and gentlemanly. They almost always open doors for the ladies, are always the last ones to leave the lift, and almost always offers to help you take your stuff. How rare! It's fascinating, really :)

It's currently raining as I'm typing, and the weather is cooler than it has ever been these days. What's more, I've just finished 2 assignments and I only have 1 left! Yayness!~ :)

Instead of curling up in bed with a good book and a nice warm cup of cocoa, isn't it great how with one click of the hand you can stumble upon so many goodies online?

So yeah, I came upon an article on joy. Yep, joy. (You'd think that I'd be my hyper happy self while writing on the subject of joy). :p

Then again, happiness does not equate joy :)

Then, I realize more than anything else, the "Isaacs" in our lives are not the things dear to us, not even the people dear to us.

If there's one thing Abraham was sacrificing on the altar, it wasn't his one and only beloved son (Can you see the similarity with God sacrificing Jesus?).

Abraham was sacrificing his heart.

He was denying himself, and taking up the cross which God had put for him--and this can only come from a heart that is continually open to being martyred to Him and Him alone.

The heart, above all things, is deceitful. The heart is also the wellspring of life--the content of a man's heart is known by the things he says, and the things he does.

Can I be like Abraham and sincerely and seriously come to a point where I can say, "God, crucify ALL of me, so that through me ALL of You can be revealed?"

Can I be like Abraham and quicken my heart to His voice, to His call, to ALL of Him, so that like Abraham, I will not delay in sacrificing what's most needed to please Him?

Not what I have, but truly, the very core of my being.

Went to Tenji in Solaris (further up from Mont Kiara) a few days ago for dinner. If you know where is Cold Storage Solaris, it's just one floor up :) (same floor as Kenny Rogers)

They're currently having a promotion this month:

I tried taking photos, but then I felt a bit jakun.. It was embarrassing having people staring at me. ESPECIALLY when I was excited about the most random stuffs, esp the fountain la, the plant la. HAHAHA YES. And ESP the DESSERT! Oh the dessert.........!!!

Hahaha yes, of all things to eat in a JAPANESE buffet, I aimed for the dessert!

Since there are no photos to show you, these are a few things you can find there other than Japanese cuisine:

1) Chinese food (dim sum)
2) Western cuisine (spaghetti, etc.)
3) LOTS OF MEAT. Lamb, beef, chicken, etc.
4) A chocolate fountain!! :D
5) Plus they serve you FRESH coconuts, unlimited supply--as you like :)
6) Haagen Dazs ice-cream!!! (you need to queue up though, you can't scoop it yourself)
7) POPCORN! (they have a popcorn machine)
8) Coffee maker (see, told you I'm jakun right?) <--the coffee was SO SO aromatic and so good! Jamie will like ittttt heheheheheh!
9) Cakes + tarts + puddings + cookies!!

For the Japanese Cuisine, there's of course sushi, sashimi, noodles, and the normal stuff like tempura, salmon, mackerel, chicken teriyaki, and many more.

Although, in my personal opinion, the Japanese cuisine itself would rate a 5/10. I prefer the desserts!! YUM :)

The ambience was awesome as well, there's both indoor and outdoor, shaded of course.

March promotion is pretty cool people, go try it!!

Although be warned, it's not exactly that amount. You know Malaysia la, there are taxes to be considered. Prolly will come up to around RM 100 ++ if you're paying the RM 88 package.

Oh the lunch set is cheaper, but there's less variety.

And they have SUPPER too! Crazy... my family and I kena halau (there's this announcement going on--felt like I was in a theme park) at 9.15 coz 9.30pm is Round 2 (for the Supper batch).

Overall, it's a good experience! Although I realize that I'm a bad bad buffet partner. I think I only had 3 plates of food. 1 plate of Japanese cuisine, 1 plate of desserts, and 1 plate of fruits.

Yes yes, don't kill me!!! My uncle was making enough noise "You eat so little! Waste my money!!"

Any-HOW, GO try it! At least once. At least before the promotion ends.

Changes

I've learnt that if I can understand why my friends change, then I wouldn't have to change friends at all.

It's hard seeing the people I know evolving to be someone else. It's hard feeling like I don't know them any more.

Then again, the only ever unchanging thing in this world is change itself, isn't it? Even I change, and AM changing.. It's just whether it's for better or worse.

And, thank God, GOD is unchanging.

Hebrews 13:8 - Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and FOREVER.

He makes me sane in the midst of this insane, insane world. Even when circumstances change, His character never changes. Thank God.

Oh well. One step at a time, one day as it comes.

1) Coffee makes me sleepier instead of wakier :/
2) My newest pet is my soft toy, Mr. Chicky. AH it's veRY cute, soft, fluffy and yellow. Must introduce you to him one day :)
3) Pink is not really my favorite color, despite how bimbo I get :p
4) I have to present a 2 min presentation of myself for Counseling class, and wonder if I can sing instead. I don't know what to talk about >:(
5) I still don't know what to work as when I am graduate :( but I am not worried, haha :)
6) I miss a lot of people :(
7) 7 is my favorite number :)
8) My computer batt died, and I was told it costs about US 90-130 (RM 326-RM 471) :/ But I prayed, and managed to get my batt for RM 280! :) Isn't He good?? :)
9) I went shopping in Sungei Wang with 3 lovely people and managed to buy 2 dresses and 1 top for a total of RM 75!! (Which, a dress or top alone in 1U might have cost RM 75 alone :/)
10) I like good bargains!! :)
11) I ~~tend to~~ overspend quite easily. Le sigh :/
12) I like Malaysian food. I think I will die overseas if I have to eat bread and dairy products from MooMooLand 24/7.
13) I am rediscovering who I am and rebuilding my life on the proper and solid foundation :)
14) I've learnt that it takes a company of 3 to make a lie work: the person who lies, the person who believes in the lie, and the father of lies.
15) I've learnt that God gives breakthroughs in breakdowns, but that it requires our willingness to co-operate in the process as well.
16) I am craving for caramel custard. How weird. At this hour.
17) I wish I know how my future will end up at times. But then I'd rather be surprised. I can only dream so far, but God can dream bigger dreams for me than I dare imagine.
18) I love my God, who can think of a thousand ways to redeem my life than for me to think of a hundred ways to mess it up. I love how He never gives up on me.
19) I always always believe that my God will see me through :)
20) I should be sleeping now. Class tomorrow at 8am!! >:(

How embarrassing!!!!!

1) I mistook a friend of mine who has been commenting on my blog as SOMEONE else!!! and I only found out TODAY! Oh my goodness meee!!!

2) My phone has 2 Alvins, I called the wrong one and started asking him questions about church. Poor guy, he was like "Who are you????" I was like "Huh???" And then I saw the surname "Tay" and BLUSHED like MAD, hung up and then called the other Alvin. I said "Where are you??" He said "Toilet!" I said "Huh???" He practically screamed "TOILET!". SIghs. First I lost my eyesight, now I am losing my hearing. AHHHHHH!

3) I nearly walked into the male's bathroom (not my fault!!! It's very misleading wan, serious!) while sms-ing. <--SUPER MALU my brother had to pull me away and push me to the right bathroom. Imagine!!

4) I chopped the vegetables using a plate coz I couldn't find the chopping board. I prayed, looked up at the hooks where cups are normally hung and saw the chopping board :)

I think more than anything else, I have a tendency to misplace my brain.

I need to be more alert. I need to be more alert. I need to be more alert.

I should join the military.

Maybe the word "ATTENTION!" will help.

I've learnt that God's timing is good, and that no matter how hard things are, He knows best.

Of course, my heart still struggles to believe what the head knows.

I'm currently running away from something that causes me great pain. And yet facing it is necessary, not because God is a cruel God, but truly because I know He cares enough for me not to let me remain the way I am.

I've so much to share, so much I wanna testify about.

And best thing is, this is just the beginning of a brand new journey.

Thank you to all who believed in me even when I failed.

Thank you to all who trusted for me even when I couldn't find trust within me.

There's much more, maybe I'll write you who are part of it a letter ;)

And definitely, thank you to all who prayed on my behalf when I couldn't find the words to express the groanings and moanings of my soul.

Serial Killers

This semester's subjects are way more interesting than last semester's one definitely.

I'm taking a subject called forensic psychology,

where I'll be basically learning how to apply psychological principles to the law in regards to forensic.

I'll be learning about serial killers, psychopaths, and lots of very interesting stuff.

Fun thing is my lecturer has given us an assignment to CREATE the perfect serial killer (with the crime scene and all). ~~haha I'm so glad now I read so many detective comics~~

How cool is that??

I also have to watch serial killer movies to do an assignment on the applicability of forensic psychology to movies. I am trying to choose the less gory ones with superb story lines. Know any? :))

Haha so if you ever catch me watching movies on serial killers, you'll be glad to know that I am NOT practicing to be one. I have a phobia of blood anyway, so yes, serial killers here I come! (oops that sounds wrong).

Oh oh before I leave, wanna hear a joke?

Q: A guy goes in to the supermarket, takes out a gun and starts shooting boxes of Cornflakes, Coco Crunch, and etc. Why?
A: He's practicing to be a cereal killer.

The Reason...

... we need to be more alert and attentive is so that:

1) we don't wake up at 7.15 in the morning for an 8am class
2) realize you will be late if you need to allocate at least 20 mins for travelling to uni + parking + travelling to bus
3) pay RM 4 for a nearer to classroom venue parking
4) and then realize there is NO CLASS that week.

Aha!
